Gra....OH! You not my Granny!' But took up with Sharla anyway and especially after I got there shortly thereafter and she could tell us apart. It is wonderful to share that memoryAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1987551624881492937.post-16665157620524468712014-03-22T19:03:39.072-05:002014-03-22T19:03:39.072-05:00Thanks for sharing your beautiful story Aunt Carol...Thanks for sharing your beautiful story Aunt Carolyn. I had a wonderful childhood being raised mostly on a ranch in Central Texas. Like Sharla, I had two amazing brothers whom I adored
After I had my first child, I was with my parents at a restaurant and a lady who had grown up with my dad asked who I was. He told her I was his daughter and she immediately exclaimed, "She sure don't look like you!" to which my dad quipped back, "That's the one we bought", and winked at me. From that time on I was the "store bought member". It was a joy to share that funny event with my daddy and I have taken pleasure in being "store bought"!

I have three wonderful sons and a wonderful daughter to which I have added about half a dozen wonderful bonus children, and many grandchildren both natural and bonus, all very cherished. And I have one precious great granddaughter.

All of my life my parents never made a distinction of value between my brothers and me. We all tied for first place in my parents' eyes. This was the training and upbringing which made it so easy, like Sharla, to pull my "bonus" children into my fold, and also which allowed me to teach 37 years of public school and add them all to my fold. As a little child I wanted 100 children...little did I know it would build to almost 2,000 over the years. But the ones who grew up in my home whether from birth or for a while are the ones I claim as my own...just like my parents did me.

Sharla, my niece, is a third generation adopted child who followed me, and I followed my mother, Sharla's grandmother. So being adopted "runs in our jeans".Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1987551624881492937.post-29519063496786090922014-03-22T18:24:24.599-05:002014-03-22T18:24:24.599-05:00I'm so excited you finally got your blog up an...I'm so excited you finally got your blog up and running!
